Hybrid S-class. Didn’t even know these existed. I’ve somehow seen a half dozen S-class blu tecs.

blue tecs are diesels

Yes I know. The point was that these are even rarer than Blue Tec S-classes.....

Have seen maybe 1 or 2 of these chauffeuring people around Manhattan who have more money than I do. Otherwise, no sitings in MD or DC, where I show up once in a while.

These were MY 2010-13, barely sold as there wasn’t a real benefit for most buyers. There was also an E400 hybrid that sold similarly.
The Bluetec was MY 2012-13 only, I believe, and sold more as it provided more benefit.

It seems Lexus has cornered the luxury hybrid market... That being said, it’s a really really small market.

Indeed. An old LS600h is a real rarity too, and a late model GS hybrid is also a unicorn of sorts. Not much demand for hybrid sedans past the 60K or so mark.

I think it's funny that the CT200h is dead when you consider that you can count on two hands how many you'll see in traffic around here on any given day.

The CT200h is super popular here. I don’t think they sold very many elsewhere.

I see them a lot down here in the LA area. But, it's not like we're a typical market. I mean, VW still doesn't sell the e-Golf in Washington.

I went to Issaquah today for some reason and of the roughly 75 left lane squatters I encountered on that round trip at least 20 were CT200h’s or other misshapen Prius progeny. That does not count the ones that were just plain Priuses.

That's because the A3 e-tron fills the void, I suspect.

They still produce/sell the Ford Flex almost exclusively for the SoCal market, too.
They didn’t sell the Fiat 500e up here, either, but a number of them made their way up here.

The Ford Flex is hilarious. Just get a van.
I’m surprised that Washington does have a ZEV mandate like California and the other states (which I haven’t made an effort to learn who they are).

And it’s a nice car. The CT200H is just a Prius with a little sound deadening and a Predator’s face.
I don’t see many e- trons down here, surprisingly. I don’t think it stands out enough, therefore people don’t notice how the owner is “saving” the world. I wish my e-Golf looked more like a normal Golf. I need to get different wheels.

There are even a couple in my workplace parking garage. In a way, those made more sense to me - a nicer trimmed less dorky looking Prius with a far nicer dealer experience.

It’s the cheapest thing that’s basically a wagon you can get (it is just a heavily styled Taurus X/Freestyle , which were on the same platform) , so it gets better mileage than a van, but isn’t really an SUV. Surprisingly, it is on the same platform as the Explorer and the platform debuted in 2005... Clearly, something is good enough about it to keep people buying them.

Is it really on the Explorer platform? I didn’t know the could change from FWD to RWD. I’m sure it’s possible, but it probably takes a shit ton of work.

It’s the D4 platform, which comes in FWD or AWD, which are the options for the Flex and Explorer. Nothing on the D4 is RWD, although it’d probably possible. The next generation of Explorer is expected to be FR.
